A Man's Home Is His Castle

Randy and Sandy Cozens live in a modern-day castle, and Randy is a 21st-century renaissance man. He designed and built their 12,000-sq.-ft. hillside home in North Scottsdale, which lies behind tall, heavy wood doors that lock by way of a thick cord of wood at the backside, like a medieval drawbridge. It is guarded by a two-bedroom guesthouse and a modern moat (a series of overflowing pools that caress the slope). Reaching the front door requires many rapid steps up a winding, majestic staircase. Once inside, you realize that this is not merely a house - it is a fortress infused with desert style and kid-friendly areas.
